We drove 10 hours to Florida on Wednesday to spend the holiday with James's family. Besides the usual theme parks, the other non-beach activity around here seems to be hiking in an alligator preserve. It was packed -- there were little kids sitting in the middle of the trail and seniors in motorized wheelchairs (a "very Florida" scene), plus we stopped every time we heard someone point out an alligator.
I've been feeling kind of ambivalent these days. I am still coping with fallout from the crash, plus, I've never been the most cheerful person to be around during the holidays. This little run wasn't my fastest, nor am I training for anything right now (obviously), but I was so glad to be out in this wild, ancient-seeming swamp. There's a lot to be thankful for around here. Hope everyone had similar realizations of sincere gratitude this Thanksgiving.
